The juniors had a fantastic time enjoying their very own ‘World Book Day’ on Thursday. We celebrated World Book day a week late, as we waited until the children had returned to school, so that everyone could join in.
There was a wide range of costumes, from Roly Poly, a dalmation from Jodie Smith’s 101 Dalmatians, to Robin Hood. The staff didn’t miss out on the fun either; in fact, two came as Cruella Devil! One kind child volunteered the information that they were out of character!
Other characters included Roald Dahl’s Matilda, Fern, from Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White and Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren.
World Book week fun also included the headmaster reading Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne; the devouring of World Book Day cakes; book hedgehogs being made for each class; and year 10 and 11 (also dressed up) joining the junior assembly virtually to recommend their favourite books.
