After a project that involved dramatising the gunpowder plot and debating lots finally the Juniors were able to visit the Palace of Westminster itself.

Getting there on the underground and posing with Big Ben was just the start!

We were taken around and learned a lot about our ancient democracy. Some of us nearly incurred the wrath of Black Rod by “nearly” sitting down in the Commons. Phew that was a close one.

We also had fun trying to work out who the statues were of the prime ministers in the lobby. It made Emlyn feel very old as he could remember a  few of them. He found Margaret a bit scary but was reassured by Harold and Edward.

Then to St James’ Park for lunch and a viewing of the pelicans.
