Careers Education in the Secondary School

Careers education and guidance is an important part of the educational experience at The Christian School Takeley.  We aim to deliver careers guidance that is impartial, confidential and based on the needs of individual pupils.  We understand that our pupils have a variety of interests and skills which need to be cultivated to ensure that they can pursue relevant career options so our policy is to support, encourage and enable pupils to make informed choices and transitions related to their personal, educational and career aspirations. The secondary school careers programme is comprehensive and underpinned by the GATSBY benchmarks and guidance from the Department of Education.
In the lower senior years the careers programme is mainly focused on developing skills and awareness about business skills, the world of work and employability skills through Citizenship and PSHE lessons. In year 10 they have Life Skills lessons which begin to develop a CV and take part in work experience placements.  Year 11 works on skills around interviews, study and wider employability skills.
We have contacts in the local area and welcome enquiries from further education establishments and employers so that we may expand these links.  If you would like to contact us with relation to our careers programme please email Angela on angela.toms@tcstadmin.co.uk
