The juniors recently enjoyed an Anglo-Saxon experience day at Braintree museum. They learned to write in old English runes, and heard the story of Beowulf. The most exciting part of the day (when the staff got to join in with the fun) was the re-enactment of the Battle of Maldon, where sadly the Anglo-Saxons lost to the Vikings and, as you can see, Earl Byrhtnoth died.

We finished the day making clay pots and came home with some splendid items.
