As part of the year 9’s topic ‘World Poverty’ the students chose a Christian charity to research and present to the class. They then voted on which charity they would like to support as a year group. The charity with the most votes was Mercy Ships.
On Friday 23rd May, our Family Assembly was lead by a representative from Mercy Ships who explained their work to us all.
Year 9 organised a non-uniform day in exchange for a donation as well as selling cakes and biscuits. Then between 11am and 1pm they took part in a sponsored walk; each with some form of impediment. The impediment allowed the students to reflect on the distances and difficulties people face who are desperate for help from the Africa Mercy Hospital ship.
Well done Year 9 – so far you have raised £150.61 for Mercy Ships.
