Thank you to everyone who supported our recent Bag2School collection. 422kg of items were collected and the money raised will be used for our 25th anniversary celebrations on the 27th September. If you would like to get involved please get in touch by emailing 25years@tcst.org.uk or by telephoning the school office.
Recently, a group of students with parents enjoyed an evening trip to the West End to see War Horse. This amazing stage production certainly complemented the pupils’ study of the story in school. Everyone was thrilled and amazed, especially by the puppetry used to bring the horse to life.
Thank you to the Takeley Primary School for inviting our Lower Junior class pupils to attend the recent talk given by the visiting author John Dougherty. After getting over the size of the school, the children were able to be inspired, if not a little bemused. After all, the book they were looking at was called ‘Stinkbomb Ketchup-Face’! Whatever happened to Winnie the Pooh?
The Lower Juniors will soon be meeting the baker at the Mayfield Bakery. This was inspired by a recent bread making session. Each Friday the Lower Juniors are now cooking something for lunch. Growing food, cooking and enjoying nature come under our Creator Studies theme and the children really enjoy engaging with their environment through their learning. They even now know that carrots don’t grow on trees! Well they do look like bananas and, oh yes bananas stick up not down on the trees. This formed the basis of quite a hot debate.
Year 10 will be visiting the Big Bang Science Fair at the NEC; then there are trips to France, Spain and Technopop. Technopop is an exciting pop-up science, technology and innovation festival in London aimed at 6 – 19 year olds.
Plans for our Easter Eisteddfod Extravaganza are well under way. Evening performances will take place on Wednesday 26th and Friday 28th March. If you are interested in tickets, please contact the school on 01279 871182.
We will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 10th May however you don’t have to wait until then. We are expanding our Infant and Junior classes and there are still places available in the Lower Seniors. Our admissions process can be found on our website. Make an appointment for a tour; simply telephone the school office and arrange a mutually convenient time.
