The infants and juniors have been working hard on a project on fruit and seeds. And what would a nature topic would be without a visit to Anne’s garden full of trees and beautiful flowers. Oh, and don’t forget the rain!!!
After lunch we set off thinking that we were ready for anything, boy were we wrong!
Once at Anne’s garden we picked pears, apples, plums and damsons. Then the rain came bucketing down and we took shelter underneath the apple tree. Anne taught us how to pick fruit properly (For those who are interested twist not pull). It was still raining cats and dogs.
After a short lecture on flowers we headed back to school but it was raining heavily.
Followed by hot chocolate to warm us up and home-time.
The next day we made apple and damson jam by cutting up the fruit, boiling it up until the jamming point and finally putting it in the jars.
